Furnace fire in Marion MI
Although chimney fires are fairly rare, they account for over 6% of all US home fires and occur nearly 25,000 times annually. This chimney fire was caused when the homeowner tried to light the stove with paper. It was drawn up the chimney by the draft and started the stove pipe and then the chimney liner on fire. A lot of water was used on this fire and after drying the structure, SERVPRO of Manistee, Ludington, and Cadillac carefully cleaned the attic and structure to remove all soot and odor. Although this was a relatively easy fix, the owners appreciated being able to enjoy their cabin without worry that the smoke odor would return during the hot humid days in summer up in Marion.
