Attic fire in Reed City MI
This attic was used for storage before the fire. After first removing the divider which was interfering with proper airflow, SERVPRO of Manistee, Ludington, and Cadillac removed the contents and insulation. One of the processes that we have found works very well in removing soot and odor is soda blasting. Regular granular baking soda (actually made by Arm and Hammer) is blasted with high pressure air at the affected surfaces. This 140 PSI air and soda removed a thin layer of wood and burned materials which can then be HEPA vacuumed and removed. The baking soda doesn’t not affect wiring or other materials damaged in the fire. (or mold situations). After cleaning the soot and soda and replacing the insulation this Reed City attic was made "Like it never even happened."
