Kitchen fire in Wellston MI
This small apartment fire in Wellston was caused by the kitchen range. As is typical with these types of fire most of the damage occurs on the top of the room. The hot air and smoke rises to the ceiling and works its way towards the floor in the seconds and minutes after the fire starts. This loss actually burned through the ceiling and damaged the attic. Note the blown in insulation that has fallen through the hole burned in the ceiling. Again, because the tenants were home, the fire department was able to save the structure. Kitchen fires cause 44% of home fires every year. They also cause 15% of the deaths and 38% of fire injuries. Because the fire was quickly put out, the experts at SERVPRO of Manistee, Ludington, and Cadillac were able to clean the fire damage in the attic, replace the insulation, and restore the kitchen with new cabinets, dry wall, paint, and floor coverings.
